First-of-its-Kind Partnership with Southshore and YMCA Brings Amenities and Services Home

AURORA, Colo. (June 2007) – Forging a new path in integrated homeowner benefits, Laing/Village LLC announces the first-of-its-kind partnership with the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver; bringing a lifestyle rich in amenities and services to homeowners at Southshore. This unique partnership offers homeowners easy access to fitness, health and wellness programs through the Lakehouse at Southshore – an impressive 11,000 square-foot social and recreational clubhouse.

The New Lakehouse at Southshore

Overlooking the Aurora Reservoir and Front Range, the Lakehouse is open to Southshore families and their guests, offering top-notch programs and services not available anywhere else in the vicinity. The YMCA of Metropolitan Denver is managing and maintaining a full menu of fitness, health and wellness programs. Beginning in May, swimming lessons, aquatic classes and instructions in kayaking, fly fishing and windsurfing will also be offered. Southshore homeowners can take advantage of membership benefits such as youth sports programming, day camps and before-and-after school programs at other YMCA locations throughout the Denver metropolitan area, too.

"We sought out the YMCA as our partner because of our shared principle of enhancing people’s lives," said Susan Peterson, general manager of Southshore. "Like Southshore, the mission of the ‘Y’ encourages strong families and a healthy lifestyle – synergy that we really value."

According to YMCA executive director Kimberly Armitage, while the YMCA has been instrumental in building strong kids and families for years, this is the first time in the history of YMCA of Metropolitan Denver that they’ve teamed up with a developer to provide such comprehensive programs and services within a new home community.

"The YMCA has a long history of providing programs for kids and families that demonstrate the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility, however it’s usually within the confines of our facilities," said Armitage. "We couldn’t be more pleased to have the opportunity to partner with Laing/Village and helping them to create a strong, family-centered community at Southshore."

Designed for families of all ages whose active lifestyle choices have been carefully considered, the Lakehouse includes panoramic views of the Reservoir, a fitness studio and aerobics room, cyber café, stadium-seating theater, library and reading room, and the spacious Lakeview room which will accommodate private events. Outside, Southshore residents can spend summers on the wrap-around verandas, in the infinity pool, wet deck and spray park, at the sun deck and boardwalk, and at the events lawn or outdoor fire pit.

According to Peterson, homeowners and buyers under contract are already utilizing the Lakehouse as an extension of their home.

"Homeowners are maximizing the Lakehouse to workout, take fitness classes, enjoy a latte or a smoothie and even host private events in our Lakeview room," said Peterson. The infinity edge pool at the facility has also recently opened.

Southshore homes range in size from approximately 1,600 to 3,800 square feet and are base-priced from the low $300,000s. Interested homebuyers are encouraged to visit the Lakehouse and Home Street, Southshore’s model complex, call (303) 680-7866 or join the Southshore Insider Club at www.livesouthshore.com.

John Laing Homes and Village Homes forged the Laing/Village LLC partnership in 1999 to better leverage their combined 170 years experience in community planning and homebuilding. Southshore, the first community to be developed by the partnership is situated along the southern shore of the Aurora Reservoir in southeast Aurora. Sharing a commitment to high customer satisfaction and a common goal for a one-of-a-kind multigenerational community, Laing/Village LLC is creating this truly remarkable place to live. Southshore is proud to be the official host of the 2007 Parade of Homes.
